Sheridan Construction was contracted to build Mercer University’s Legacy Hall, an 80,000-square-foot dormitory to house incoming freshmen. The site work was not able to begin until classes ended May of 2015 and had to be substantially completed by August of that same year when students returned.
The project required the demolition of the East Hall building and the addition of a large underground retention facility to replace an important parking lot. Additionally, several critical facilities, fiber optic lines, a 1,200-pair AT&T line, a main gas line, and a vital water main all had to be relocated under the building pad that the new site was centered on.
The project earned a Merit Honors Build Georgia Award from the Associated General Contractors of Georgia.
