Sheridan Construction is firmly committed to investing in the future. Each summer, we recruit interns from the best construction management and related programs in the Southeast. From the start, you will gain a great deal of hands-on experience and will be immersed in real construction environments. Sheridan offers internships in three different routes:

Project Manager

The Project Manager is a supervisory position and reports to the COO. The Project Manager is tasked to
support company operations by successfully administering projects from start to finish. The Project Manager
must have exceptional organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask, overseeing multiple
projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages all projects assigned by the Employer in a timely, professional manner.
  • Reads and understands plans, reviews submittals, generates subcontracts and purchase orders, oversees quality control and warranty items.
  • Enables timely project completion through scheduling, delivery expedition and document management.
  • Proactively manages project budget / costs.
  • Holds regularly scheduled project meetings and prepares and distributes meeting minutes (Owner / Architect / Contractor meetings, Sub Scheduling meetings, Sub Preinstallation meetings, etc.)
  • Obtains all necessary permits and meets regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains safe worksite by compliance with OSHA standards and site inspections.
  • Maintains consistent and professional correspondence with all client representatives, architects, subcontractors, vendors, co-workers, etc.
  • Solicits and negotiates prices from subcontractors and vendors as needed.
  • Assists with creation, verifying and maintaining punch list.
  • Supervises people and resolves conflicts while keeping the project on schedule.
  • Works with the project team; owner’s, subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers and building officials to manage changes in scope, project reviews and progress.
  • Participate and represent the company at community events and conferences.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field
  • Five to seven years of commercial construction experience
  • Two to three years of project management and leadership experience.
  • Outstanding leadership abilities with high regard placed on Integrity.
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA requirements and the management of an OSHA site visit and maintain current OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office suite of software (Word & Excel).
  • Computer skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
  • Solid and professional interpersonal and communicationsskills.
  • Successful organizational capabilities, dynamic work ethic and highly meticulous.
  • Good judgment and a history of prioritizing tasks and initiatives effectively according to business obligations
  • Strong sense of urgency

Superintendent

The Project Superintendent is a supervisory position and reports to the COO. The Project Superintendent is a field
leader of projects and provides on-site field administration and technical management for all construction
operations. This includes direct supervision of assistants, foremen, subcontractors, and other construction related
personnel, directing them in planning, coordination and execution of work on time, within budget, maintaining a
safe work place, promoting and enhancing client relationships.

Duties
  • Reads and understands plans, specs and bid packages.
  • Reviews submittals, oversees quality control and warranty items.
  • Coordinates with HR and Project Manager to address job safety.
  • Field leader who professionally interacts with the Owner, Architect and Engineers.
  • Maintains quality by performing subcontract reviews, identifying and solving problems.
  • Enables timely project completion through scheduling, delivery expedition and document management.
  • Submit daily logs electronically of who is on jobsite and timecards.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
  • Preferred four (4) year degree in a construction-related curriculum or equivalent experience in field-related duties, including any accredited apprentice programs.
  • Five (5) years, +/-, prior experience as a Project Superintendent, Field Engineer or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability of project teams with successful outcomes.
  • Proficient in basic use and functions of a personal computer.
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA requirements and the management of an OSHA site visit and maintain current OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office suite of software (Word & Excel).
Environmental/Working Conditions:
  • 99% field office and site environment.
  • 1% office environment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions which include, but are not limited to; extreme heat, humidity, rainfall, complement of all seasons, combined with varying starting and stopping times.
  • Work will involve exposure to varying noise and dust levels.
  • Must be capable of working in a variety of physical positions which include, but are not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, walking and driving.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel about all areas of project which may be on uneven ground and inclines and may require climbing stairs and ladders.
