Christy Kovac serves as President and CEO of Sheridan Construction, an employee owned firm and one of Georgia’s most established builders. With more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Christy provides strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the company’s operations. She takes pride in every project, defining success as delivering quality work that creates an exceptional experience for both clients and the community.

Since becoming the first woman to lead a major construction company in Middle Georgia in 2016, Christy has guided Sheridan Construction through a period of significant growth and modernization. She implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) across the organization, strengthening fundamentals, clarifying core values, and aligning teams around a shared vision. Under her leadership, Sheridan has expanded beyond its Macon headquarters to open additional offices in Athens and LaGrange, increasing the firm’s reach across Georgia.

Christy’s background spans estimating, preconstruction, and project management, with more than $125 million in annual project volume across medical, educational, religious, financial, retail, multi family, and industrial markets. She is committed to delivering quality service to every project team member, employees, clients, designers, and trade partners, and takes great pride in the work Sheridan performs across the state and market segments.

Christy earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in finance from Mercer University. She is a member of AGC Georgia and served as co-chair of the AGC Central Georgia Workforce Development Alliance for over 10 years.

A champion of community engagement and meaningful client experiences, Christy ensures Sheridan Construction remains deeply connected to the communities it serves. She is an active participant in Women Who Build Together, supporting women in construction and advancing opportunities for future industry leaders.

An engaged civic leader, Christy serves on the boards of the United Way of Central Georgia (past president), Macon Area Chamber of Commerce (past president), NewTown Macon, and the Georgia Center for Employee Ownership. She is also a member of the Downtown Macon Rotary Club and a past president and current board member of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity.

A proud Macon resident, Christy enjoys symphonies, musicals, movies, sporting events, and Orangetheory Fitness. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with her family.

Christy serves as Chief Marketing Officer for Sheridan Construction, where she brings 30 years of experience in customer service, account management, sales, marketing, consulting, and business development. She is genuinely interested and engaged in every project, and clients find her friendly, professional, and responsive to their needs.

Christy joined Sheridan Construction in 2017, but her connection with the firm and passion for its work goes back much further. Her father was a job site superintendent with Sheridan Construction for 30 years before he retired in 2014, making Christy among a handful of second-generation employees at the firm. Growing up, she often visited job sites with her father, a tradition she continues with her children today. Christy enjoys the excitement of watching a building take shape and seeing professionals from different trades work together to bring a project to fruition. It is rewarding for her to see a completed building serve its purpose — whether it’s a place for people to live, work, study, worship, receive medical care, or play.

Christy studied business administration at Macon State College (now Middle Georgia State University) while working with the Trane Company as part of a college program. When Trane offered her a full-time position in Waco, Texas, she seized the opportunity. Through her work with the Associated General Contractors of Georgia’s skilled trade competition and high school, college, and career programs, she reminds students that no matter their career path, they can find their place in life by showing up, studying, learning, and working hard.

Christy lives in Gray with her two daughters and a rescue dog named Noelle. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Gray, where she served as an AWANA leader for five consecutive years and founded a MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers). She serves with Daybreak Day Resource Center, Macon Area Habitat for Humanity, and United Way of Central Georgia. She also serves on the boards of Mount de Sales Academy, Living Truth, and Macon RBI Baseball and Softball.

Christy has co-founded a group called Women Who Build Together to empower and support the AEC industry of Middle Georgia.
