The School
Sheridan was selected as the contractor to build the new 96,000square foot Heard Elementary School in Bibb County.
The project consisted of the demolition of the former Heard School and construction of the new school on the same site. The new school consists of three classroom wings (pre-engineered metal building with brick veneer), a cafeteria, gymnasium and administrative areas.
The project started in late December of 2013 to a heavy downpour of rain. We had a tight schedule and through working closely with the owner, project team and subcontractors, Sheridan was able to deliver a completed building the following December, allowing the school to open in January of 2015. The school was finished on time and under budget.
The Auditorium
Sheridan performed preconstruction and construction management services for a historical renovation of the original Heard Elementary school house.
The school had numerous additions through the years and we demolished all additions and saved the original structure. However, the structural integrity of approximately 70% of the structure had to be torn down and rebuilt. We did this without extending the original schedule or adding any change orders to the original contract amount.
