Sheridan Construction was hired to perform interior and exterior renovations to the University of Georgia’s newest development of the “Innovation District” initiative in Downtown Athens, GA. The Innovation Hub at 210 Spring Street was built in the 1940s by Cofer Seed Company as a processing plant and seed warehouse. Purchased by the University of Georgia in 1968, the building was home to the university’s Central Duplicating Service for more than 50 years. Essentially three separate buildings tied together under two barrel-shaped roofs, the one-story historic structure features 10,980 SF of flexible workspace, conference rooms, and presentation areas to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement at UGA. Scope of work included a new roof with skylights, restoration of the original windows, and construction of a new parking lot accessible through a new entry plaza. Interior renovations included new MEP replacements and upgrades, new lighting, new fire sprinkler system, and exposed bow-truss ceiling structure.

Throughout the renovation of this project, Sheridan Construction maintained a very professional attitude and was a pleasure to work with. Sheridan has been responsive to all of our requests, even since completing the project and leaving the site. We look forward to the opportunity to work with them again.
