Sheridan Construction was selected by the Georgia Department of Public Safety to complete a full interior renovation and a partial exterior renovation of DPS Post #8—the oldest standing Georgia State Patrol post in the state.

The interior renovation included a comprehensive asbestos abatement across all three floors, followed by the installation of all new subflooring and a variety of flooring materials, including stained concrete, epoxy, tile, LVT, and carpet. Additional upgrades encompassed new paint, ceilings, doors, cabinetry, and the installation of modern electrical, mechanical, and plumbing fixtures. Enhancements also included bullet-resistant glass at the administrative desk and relocated restrooms in the basement.

On the exterior, the project involved installing new storefront windows and exterior doors, constructing an ADA-compliant ramp with handrails, and restoring the building’s historic character with new shutters, fresh paint, and a full exterior cleaning.

One of the greatest challenges of this project was the absence of an architect or design team, requiring a high level of coordination and adaptability. However, the most significant success was the seamless communication and collaboration between Sheridan Construction, GSFIC, the Department of Public Safety, and the Georgia State Patrol, ensuring the project’s successful completion.
